In the first third of the 20th century, Stefan Zweig was the most successful writer in Europe. His many books adorned every home and public library and topped the bestseller lists. But the 1930s erased all of that. His books were burned by the Nazis. He fled Europe and watched from across the ocean as his homeland descended into horror. In exile, despairing and broken, Zweig wrote his farewell to Europe, "The World of Yesterday" — which became his farewell to the world as well. The show is based on his writings, and dives into the complex inner world of a man trying to choose goodness in a world collapsing around him.

"The World of Yesterday is theater of another kind — blessed with future-forward innovation, a super-league performance high above Jerusalem. I'm straining here with verbal acrobatics just to get you to come up to Jerusalem and witness, with your own astonished eyes, the wonder of this staging." (Hagit Bat-Eliezer, Yekum Tarbut)
